My name is Bob, I have been reading posts on the site for about 4 years and just got around to finally making an account. (I'll admit I finally did because an amp caught my eye in the classifieds.) I can't believe the amount of information I have seen on this website. It is such a crazy resource to have access to.
I've been playing guitar for about 15 years and really focusing on the bass for the last 5 or so. I learned to read on piano when I was very young but I am not as proficient with reading on the fretboard. I've always been an ear player, even back then. I have found this to be a great resource for getting better at things I neglected. I've taken lots of advice from here.
My band Ancient Whale just played our first gig last weekend. It was fricken awesome after having played together for about 3 years. It was a milestone for me since last time I performed was a classical guitar piece gone awry in college. I had bad nerve problems and still do. It was much worse in a silent room in front of all those music students. I dropped out because of my embarrassment. What an a** I am! 10 years later I have figured out what a mistake that was. Now I'm not letting anything get in my way. Also valuable to me was the abundance of threads about nerves.
I got the GAS bad. I also love tinkering and learning about gear as much as I can. It's really taking over my life. Lol. Help.
My most recent GAS has been over a 400rb. I played a used one through a bag end 4x10 and it was amazing. I've been playing a fender rumble 100 and I unfortunately have to crank it to cut through with my loud, unconcerned buddies. So that's my justification to myself for my next purchase
Anyway, sorry for the long-winded, going-nowhere intro post. I hope to have something to contribute to a conversation one of these days.
