So what is this annoying thing that now pops up about every 5th time I go to another page? It tries to tell me I have visited 10 pages in five seconds or some nonsense like that. My computer doesn't even work fast enough for that to happen. Can this be turned off?

I just tried like heck to replicate your problem...clicking through as many TB pages as quickly as I could.

Nothing happened.

I don't think your issue has to do with talkbass.

It actually does have to do with TalkBass: we have an anti-DOS (denial of service) plugin installed. Sure enough your IP is showing up in the logs. It shows that you're hammering the TalkBass homepage. Do you by chance have a bazillion tabs open? According to server logs, you're hitting the TB homepage 4 times per second.

In any event, if you log in you shouldn't have this problem any more. Only guests (not logged in) are subject to the anti-dos measures.

I rarely have more than two tabs open in IE. I might have Word, Excel, PPT open at the same time, but surely that would not affect this?

When you're logged in you don't have this issue any more though, do you?

I get this too when I refresh a page too often, or when I click a link several times to get it to load, but I haven't noticed whether I was logged in or not.

I have a slow broadband service and the TB forums takes longer to load than almost every other site I visit frequently so hitting refresh gets it to load a bit quicker.

For example, when browsing the basses for sale thread I usually have to hit refresh at least once or twice per page to get a page with thumbnails pics to load completely. If I don't hit refresh the page load icon spins indefinitely and all the thumbnails on the page never completely load. It's like it loses it's connection with the server after so many seconds. Occasionally I'll click a link and 10 seconds later I'm still on the same page so I'll click the link a few more times and the page will load.

I'm using FF28. I won't use 29 because they changed too many features I like. I also use fasterfox and adblock which do help quite a bit, so it's even worse without them enabled.
