Hey everyone, I have a jazz bass parts bass that I had put together a couple of years ago that I'd like to refinish and I have a couple of questions.
I had originally done a dark purple dye and then done a bunch of coats of tru oil to finish it. My first question is, what sort of prep should I do to get it ready for a new finish?
For the new colour, I have not yet decided but I'm thinking something with some sparkle to it, like either a metallic or metal flake finish. I'd like something that is easily applied like a spray can. Any tips or things I should think about when picking a metallic sort of spray? Looking to get something that is pretty accessible as well, maybe something sold in a local store like a Home Depot. Also looking for some suggestions for a type of finish to add for protection.
Thanks!
