Has anyone purchased a refurbished Ipod ? Just wondering about the reliability, any issues, etc. ? Seeing some good deals on them, but not sure what internet dealer is the best. Any comments welcome.

Refurbished Ipod ?

My family's bought at least 2 and they've all been working perfectly for years. Go for it! Also got our iPads refurbished and no problems going on 3 months.
I've gotten my iPhone replaced before (under warranty) for issues, and I'm pretty sure they give you a refurb not a brand new one. I've had no problems since, so yeah go for it
When Apple refurbishes either iPods or iPhones, they replace the outer shell as well as the case, and anything that malfunctions. They're as good as new, just come in a less pretty box.
So long as it comes with a warranty, you should be fine.
Chances are there is less to go wrong with it, as they already fixed the initial manufacturing defects etc.

I had a refurbed physical drive iPod (Classic 80G). It lasted a year before going belly up. I don't recall what malfunctioned but it was almost as much to fix it as it was to buy a new one.
If you are getting a refurbed iPhone/Touch/iPad,...ie not a physical drive,...I hear they are more reliable (my new Touch is still kicking after about 15 months).

Did you get them on Ebay ? Most of the ones I've seen have only 30 day warranties. You have to but an extra warranty plan if you want a longer one.
I got one from ecost and it was a horror show. I had to bludgeon them to get them to take it back... I would be careful about who does the refurb...
here's my opinion of referb electronics:
Most of the "new" stuff goes down the assembly line at warp speed and every once in a while...one gets checked.
Referb has someone actually put their hands on it, check it for functionality within design parameters. You know it got looked at.
I'll take the referb and the discount any day.
Given that it's factory referb /w warranty. I'll pass on the local repair stuff.

So you are saying stick with an Apple refurbished one ? I went to the Apple site for refurbs, but did'nt see any classics there. The ones on Ebay say " seller refurbished ", and most only have 30 day warranties.
I'd be for eBay as long as the guy has good feedback. I know most of our refurbs have been straight from Apple but one or two might've been from eBay.

What kind of warranty does Gamestop have? I could'nt find any info on their site, except for a 30 day return policy.
Yes, my ipod was a refurb, and I highly recommend the idea. It is effectively a new machine, and carries the usual warranty.
