Regain "punch" lost when using OD effects?

During your 'selective analyzing', you must have missed the yellow line. I also guarantee that curve looks totally different in a room, or a studio, or coming out of an actual speaker.

Sorry, a -17 to 35db scoop is a more appropriate way of putting it I guess. Either way, its big. Probably helps the people who really love it to love it, and the people who really don't love it to not love it. Nothing wrong with a little variety, eh?

I agree about the inherent voice of the B3K/B7K being fairly scooped sounding (though they can still be dialed in to sound great with the Blend), but definitely no scoop in the Darkglass Vintage- quite the opposite in fact.

Wanted to update this thread.
Some more information: In addition to the "loss of punch" I mentioned in the OP, I also quit using pedals at all because I noticed a difference (for the better) in my clean tone when I went without my board. I don't use a lot of effects; my old setup was EHX Bass Microsynth - VT Bass v2 - Digitech Bass chorus.
I bought a VT Bass DI thinking it would be like my other VT pedal but with a blend, but they sound different to me. I like the sound of the VT Bass v2 pedal better, except it was too compressed ("loss of punch"). My lackluster results with the blend function of the VT DI are why I hadn't really looked at parallel signal chains.
The Brimstone XD-2 is a super cool pedal, tons of different tones possible - however I spent a some time with it and the low end still sounds a little "flabby" to me even with the gain way down. Might just need more tweaking of the 11 knobs on the thing May put it up for sale.
SO - I picked up an Xotic X-Blender from the TB classifieds I went back to my old setup but ran the three pedals through the parallel loop on the X-blender. Also added a TC Polytune 2 tuner - my old Korg Pitchblack Poly was picking up some weird noise interference while tuning, and I never really liked it anyway.
So far this setup sounds like what I was after. I have my effects blended with clean to keep the "punch" and when I run totally clean I am "true bypassed" around the effects pedals for no "tone suck".

Not at all - hate mid scoop tone. I have a GK MB Fusion 500 - treble and bass "flat" (12:00) high mids boosted some, low mids maybe cut a tad or flat. Never use the "contour", hate that sound.
MIM Active Deluxe Jazz V, tone controls flat and volume maxed.

Surprised no one caught this earlier. "Flat" on the GK MBs is bass and treble about 10-11, low and high mids 1-2, so if your knobs are mostly around noon the mids are scooped. Try starting from bass & treble at 10:30 and both mids at 2 and tweak from there.

That very well may be - but I was (am) happy with the sound I'm getting with no effects. And even with my settings I'm still a lot less mid-scooped than most players I hear. That wasn't the issue I was having.
