Releasing an old Peavey combo into the wild

I received a 1998 Peavey TNT 115 BW for free when I started playing a couple months ago, from a friend at work.

I thought it worked fine in the garage, so I moved it down to the basement where I play.

It turns out to have a 120 Hz hum that I couldn't hear in the garage, and it drives me nuts.

I have moved on, amplifier wise, but I still have the 90 pound Peavey in my basement.

How do I get rid of this thing?

I took the electronics and speaker out, so now I can probably carry the pieces up the stairs. The electronics look fine, no oozing caps or burnt parts. The Black Widow speaker looks brand new.

The local amp tech charges $30 per hour, so I could take the electronics and speaker over and have him fix the amp. I figure it won't be over $60 to fix it.

What then? Do I put it on Craigslist for $150 and see if I can get $100 for it? Try to sell it to the pawn shop?
Try to donate it to a school?

Or do I not fix it, and just bash it with a sledge hammer and throw it in the trash?

I'm not looking to make a profit from it, I have a day job. It just seems like a waste to trash it, but putting a bunch of time and effort to make $50 bucks seems like a waste, too...

My project was to learn to play the bass, and this wasn't part of the plan.

Get it fixed, and give it to a kid who can't afford an amp, or give to a church or school music dept. that could use it. THAT's priceless and look at the good you did. It does come back to you.

Give it to the tech, many have a side hustle selling amps that customers abandon for a variety of reasons.

This side hustle helps minimize the losses a shop takes under such conditions.

Very good straight forward combo amp.
Still works 30 years later.

The hum problem is usually a common and very simple fix.
Nothing wrong with the amp.
2 board standoffs that ground part of the board.
Connections get cleaned, no hum
and another 30 years awaits.

Donate the amp to a church or music school.
Im not sure why tearing it apart helped much.

Back when I had a TNT150 in the 90's it would periodically develop a hum. I'd pull out the chassis, blow some air in it, put back it. The hum would leave for a few months. Then, repeat, when needed.

Move it back to the garage and play it there?
