This is a relist from a previous thread...looking to sell more than trade now at this point...will sell for $2100 shipped CONUSA....I bought it a few months ago thinking that I would learn how to do the fretless thing and the sixth string thing but never got the hang of it....this is the best sounding fretless I have ever heard...it has Bartolini pickups with rosewood covers and a bartolini pre-amp with volume(pull for passive)/blend/treble/mid/bass the switches are hum cancel to single and 3 way mid freq select....it starts with a black limba body a 5a exhibition grade spalted flamed maple top wenge and bubinga neck rosewood board and ebony accents, hipshot a style bridge and hipshot tuners.....it is in absolutely mint condition not a scratch ding or dent on it.....it is a 33 1/2" scale with a 19mm spacing.....I have only played it live once in a non smoking bar...other than that I have only used it in the studio...the only trades I will take are 5 string high end jazz's like a Nordy or Alleva....something like that or a '50s or '60s Fender Custom Shop Relic P bass.....also would take a USA Lakland JO...or a 55-94 or Glaub....thank you for checking it out....

Wow, this bass is truly something else. A real pleasure to behold.

1) Could you please re-measure the string pitch? My string-spacing radar says 90mm (3 1/2+ inches) center-on-center B to C at the bridge, or 18mm string-to-string. The psychedelic emanations from the spalting could be throwing me off, though.

2) How is the balance on a strap?

3) I might have missed it in the thread, but what is the approximate weight? Frankly, I don't care if a bass is heavy or light as long as it balances well enough.

4) Can you get a tight, punchy bass response from this axe? I had a black limba body + wenge neck jazz V and couldn't get enough attack out of the thing. It was warm and woolly all day long with great sustain but, alas, no bite. My hope is that the maple tightens up the low and low mids.

This is a spectacular looking instrument! A real work of art.

Thank you, Sir.

ps I just checked mapquest: A 12 1/2 hour drive from Chicago to Oklahoma City. I would really love to give this bass a workout, but...

ok #1 it is standard 19mm but it is a hipshot so it has that adjustable thing where it will go to a couple of different spacings...

#2 on a strap it sits perfect...the neck will rise a little very good balance if you want to pull the neck up to your face and play it or if you want to keep it down low like a Thunderbird it will do both it has exceptional balance

#3 it is around 10.5 lbs

#4 it is extremely well rounded tonally...I can make it sound warm and fuzzy to tight punchy and aggressive...it is the growliest fretless I have ever heard...the mid range punch is immaculate...and the B string is tight and loud and really cuts....I love the 3 way selector on the mids

hope this answers your questions I used it in a session tonight and I really love the tone I still am just not good at fretless and I really never use the C string....if this thing had frets it would never leave this place

Free Bump. This has to be the most gorgeous bass for sale right now, and after lookin at it for a month or more, I have no friggin CLUE why it is still here. Intimidating, I suppose, but for me that factor alone makes this worth havin. IF you say you aren't good wit fretless, why in the world order it? I personally think you should play the heck out of it and GET good. It's the only way. I play 5 and 6 string fretless basses lots, heh, and sucked terribly til I just put my fretted basses away and played fretless, regardless of my intonation, exclusively for a few months. On an instrument this nice, it wouldn't take long. I wish you were closer. I have a Smith 6 that I have considered over and over offerin for this bass. But, I'm particular, my Smith has a tone that I've never heard in another, and though I'm sure this bass would sound great (the woods for the neck are a perfect choice, though I do wish it had an ebony board), I'd have to hear it to know for sure. I suggest you keep it. It's just TOO darn nice, and if you COULD conquer it, the "smug" you would enjoy as you intimidated others might well be worth the effort and missed notes you'd have to go thru ta get good. Killer bass, man. I don't get why it's still here.

Well it is the fact that I do not play fretless live...nor will I...it just doesn't fit with the band I play in...so its hard for me to go from the stage with a 5 string to the studio with a fretless 6 string....plus I am just ready to go back to a more traditional bass such as a Jazz of P....just a matter of preference....the woods are amazing and the tone is wonderful....it is just not my forte....if it did have frets though I would keep it just for the fact of the tone...I didn't order the bass....I sold a Benevente to a guy that had to have it and another friend of mine had this one so I bought it to try it....I do wish it would go to a good home with someone who will truely use and play it well...
