Remembering Carl Radle

Yesterday was the anniversary of Carl Radle's death. I would always rather celebrate someone's birth than their death, but it was a good opportunity to write a little about Radle. I wrote this brief piece for examiner.com. (His birthday is in a few weeks, so I'll plan on doing something a bit more involved then.)

Thanks! Carl Radle played on some of my favorite music back in the early 70's. The whole Derek and the Dominos, Leon Russell, Delaney and Bonnie and Mad Dogs and Englishmen period was probably the most musically prolific time in rock history IME. He and Jim Gordon were in the thick of it all.

I stole a lot from Carl over the years, like Duck Dunn if you emulated these guys supportive and humble but very cool bass playing, you got work.

Was just listening to , and admiring, his playing on Clapton's self titled record from 1970. Great player.
