    Hello,
Trying to simplify my rig. I've read a bunch of threads about the Headway and also the Felix. It seems that the Felix is the preamp preference. However- I was wondering if anyone is using the Headway and is happy with it. I tried using the EA doubler preamp but does not have the gain necessary -when I send it to the MAS 18 which is powered.- very disappointing.

Not wild about spending $1100 on a preamp- Maybe the AI Flex tops....

  2. I use the Headway EDB2 and a powered MAS 1/8(pascal module). I love the combo!

Great combo, I gig with the MAS 1/8 Headway when I don’t need the Grace Designs Felix. I own the Remic’s and use them as well. If you have an older MAS 1/8 you should look into changing out the IcePower module for the Pascal. That could likely solve your issues. The Headway EDB-2 will also up the gain. I own both Remic’s and they also sound Great, there are frequently for sale in the TB classifides and there is/was a EDB-2 there as well.

    Thanks Vice!

Yes- My MAS 18 is brand new with the 1200W Pascal- though I'm not sure what is going on with it - I've reached out to Mike but have not heard back from him- hopefully soon. I'll have to try the Headway EDB-2.

Wells---I'll call you back today. Things have been crazy here. Just got back from my daughter's wedding and now my father-in-law is dying and it's taking all of my time.

Mike- thank you for getting back to me and so sorry about your father-in-law. I tried a few things after we spoke and I think I need to get a solid preamp for my remic. I put the Arkham though the MAS 18 and it sounded good..... lots of testing on my part!

Tellin’ ya, a Rolls mini mic pre through an Fdeck with HPF and notch (series 3?) on a nano pedal board will get you there. Maybe throw in a MXR 10 band eq for a really crazy room.

The Gear Junkie indulges in a sacrilegious chuckle, and mutters to himself 'Pre-amp, Schmee-amp'.

Word. Unless it’s a SLG, it’s become Remic straight into AI Contra. Somethings with an Ear Box. No muss, no fuss, and tone for days.

Perfectly acceptable for your needs. Mine, not so much. I love me a great midrange sweep like a Thunderbolt 500.
