Remoteing the volume control

Ok, say a guy has an Alembic F1-X and a power amp into a cabinet. He plays in a Church environment where the sound guy is in charge of all levels. I don't want to mic the cab, I'd rather let the sound guy control the pre. Electrically this seems like some kind of radio type control problem. There are mic inputs and DIs all over the stage.
Pretty ordinary sound board. It would be nice if he could use a slider on the board.
Has anyone ever tackled this problem?

Send the pre straight to the house. Then the house can send a monitor signal back to the power amp.
