Removable Clear Pickguard Film?

Wondering if anyone has any experience with any removable clear pickguard film; I'm thinking kinda like the PPF that is used to protect auto finishes.

I have an instrument with no pickguard and would like to protect the area below the
strings that gets scuffed, but I do not want a hard plastic "permanent" pickguard.
If possible, some sort of material that can be custom cut to fit my guitar.
Don't want a permanent adhesive; want to be able to remove it.
Maybe something like the protective film that new pickguards come with that is easily peeled off?

Maybe some clear decal film used to make your own decals. Just don’t print anything on it.

My thumb has the texture of a mill file and easily scarred virtually any finish. Not such much a problem nowadays as I use "floating thumb" technique. I may have some in my leftover stash. I razored-out custom, strangely-shaped guards to protect surfaces adjacent to the pickups.

Hell if I know. I sold any number of basses with the guards intact and nobody ever called back yippin' about it. Do review the precautionary tale included in provided link. Any adhesive has the potential to mar a finish...with the exception of Post-It notes. PM your addy and I'll stick it in the mail.

FWIW: you sketch out the design on the backing paper (reversed, of course) and razor-out. I used to make big inflated "T"'s with the vertical between the pickups and the horizontal against the upper edges.

Use Glad press and seal plastic wrap. Found in most grocery stores. Check with your significant other first, there may be some in your kitchen drawer under the work space. You stretch it slightly when applying and it becomes sticky on one side. (sticky side down LOL)

So here’s what I did.
Got some clear PPF film on Amazon and applied at much like you would apply a “wrap” on a vehicle.
Made a template to cut the material to size.
I think it will work out well, and if I don’t like it or otherwise want to remove it , I can peel it right off.
