Removing the pickguard for more tone?

This is almost as funny as the thread about "vintige air" in old sealed cabs in the amp section.
Someone wondered if removing drivers to allow fresh air to circulate would improve the tone of an old sealed vintage cab. Others quickly decided that vintage air had mojo and that they might try to bottle and sell vintage air from their old cabs on ebay. Others still pondered if using vintage fans to blow air into the driver holes of modern sealed cabs would re-create the tone effects of vintage air (If you think about it... there was less pollution in the air back then).
And then there was the ebay auction for about three inches of green pre-CBS wire. The true mojo of a bass comes from old $h1tty wire.

OkOKOKOkOkOkOkOKKO!!! ENOUGH WITH THE JOKES! I cant stop laughing and i need some sleep.
did it sound better? : if it did, it was almost noticable. I think more or less, the 3mm thick pickguard gave me less space to rest my thumb on the bass, so i was probably more agressive in my fingerstyle, giving me a 'better' tone for some songs.
But in all honesty, when i grabbed a pick for some van morrison, no difference. so... the jokes are right.
but my bass looks like ****. so on it goes again.
But now i have a dilemma.. how do i get the pixie dust back on my bass. and how do i get my bass back on the pickguard. and who knows a good loanshark for the $10,000 pickguard?!
And all this time I thought that breathing through my eyelids was the way to better tone.

A) Get another Ash body
B) Fill the huge neck p-up cavity with a soapbar bart?
c) Fill the space with a wood replacement
