Just picked up this album recently.....really like it. Love the soul/r&b of the late '70s and early '80s.

This song in particular I feel has similarities to Brothers Johnson "Stomp" particularly the string section and the slap bass. Louis Johnson is credited on this album along with Jamerson & Bobby Watson.

My strong hunch is he played this.

There is no doubt that Louis Johnson played on that track! I am a big Rene and Angela fan, and love music from era. That was when I was coming of age! On that CD, was it James Jamerson or JJ jr.? Finally, Bobby Watson is incredibly underrated! His playing for Rufus was fantastic as was his bassline for Off the Wall. He was one of the first bassists other than Anthony Jackson to regularly play below E.

That was a great era for music....I was born in '79 so I have some tie to it even if it took over 25 years to get into it.

Dr. Cheese....I believe it's JJ Jr.

Agree with how great Watson is. Just wish they credited these guys to the specific tracks to take out the guess work. :)
