Repair Question

Hi,
Fist time posting here.
I decided to start playing around with my bass again after a really long time. The Amp I have is an old Yamaha B100-II. I plugged it in and it reminded me that it didn't work very well. Really loud crackling noises even with the volume at 1. I actually got it to work quietly for a few seconds but it really needs to go to a repair shop.
I live in Great Neck, NY and was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to take it. I guess I could bring it to Sam Ash but I always hated that place. It really is pretty old so I'm not even sure if it is worth looking at so someone who won't charge a lot for looking at it would be preferable.
Thanks
