I'm surprised people haven't mentioned the tariffs effects on phones. (it isn't political, it's like a weather report) Apple just got the last shipping container ship out of port before they hit. It might be a good idea to replace/update your phone now, and your vehicle.
I recently became frustrated by my constant reworking of my pedalboard and the associated buying of different pedals and am on a selling spree (see my classified!). So I recently purchased the Darkglass infinity combo for the practice space and also traded for their Exponent head, for home/gigs, both of which contain all I really need.
Then the algorithm fed me that same video yesterday and led me down the loopy pro etc rabbit hole.
I already have an iPad and midi footswitcher so I might give this a try.

You may have missed the week-old news that Apple has been loading up its inventory for many weeks, and that it has not relied on shipping containers but has also airlifted tons of devices.
Not to mention that the tariff on iPhones and other electronics have since been given an indefinite exemption
You need to read the weather report more than once a month.
I don’t have a foot switcher but I use the previous version of loopy with synths and it’s incredibly powerful and freeing.
Mac, Windows and iOS (maybe Android too, I’m not familiar) all have Focus/Do Not Disturb modes that mute notifications while still connected to the internet.
iOS has preconfigured Focus modes for Do Not Disturb, Personal, Sleep, and Work, and they are all flexible in case you want to modify it for certain people or apps to break through.
Wow that's a great option! I always forgot about it when I had an iPhone, mainly because it's so extreme that I rarely use it. Seems very useful for this scenario!

If I was to use an iPad for that kind of thing, I'd use one that has no other software/accounts set up at all, as a 100% dedicated device - and that still seems like a stupid idea.
I've gone completely digital in the past and always went back to pedals in the end.

I have hundreds of apps on my iPad mini with no problems or conflicts when using my dozen+ various music apps with my synth/synth apps/controller. And iPads are single user anyway.

I say this as a Dev by day: Too much of our lives is already the mercy of Software.
Your phone or tablet or PC or OS manufacturer can decide on a whim to end support for products you paid real money for.

The issue with Line 6 hardware was due to an incompatibility at the end of 2019 that involved old Lightning cables and Apple fixed it a few weeks later in a later iOS release. No whims exposed to air from what I saw.
That's fine, but since you said you wouldn't have multiple accounts on an iPad it seemed you weren't familiar with the device, since that's not even possible. Like I said, I have hundreds of apps on my iPad and have zero problems using MIDI or audio connectivity with controllers, instruments or even connected to my Mac.
Exactly my point: "correct" cables for Apple etc products are a moving target - whether Apple deigned to fix it post hoc or not.
With Apple especially there is anon-zero chance your cables will eventually be unusable.
I have boxes of dusty gear that can not connect to a modern PC or 'device'
Yet somehow a pedal from 1980 can still connect to my amp just fine - no updates needed.
I never saw a standard 1/4" jack become "deprecated."
I'm not just an old fart complaining about newfangled gizmos.
I want control of my gear, without unnecessary external forces motivated by poor incentives.

That wasn't your point; you specifically referred to a change 'on whim' which is what I was replying to.

That's just what big concrete wants you to think. I once was told it'd be crazy to build a castle in a swamp, but I did it anyway!...
Aside from the problems with shifting compatibility, using a phone sucks. It's only advantage is that it fits in a pocket, everything else about it is a PITA, IMO.
