Replaced tone pot/used same tone capacitor

I had to have the tone pot replaced on my '77 Jazz-the shaft was getting loose. My tech used the original tone capacitor and told me that this would help to preserve the original vintage tone. What say you? (Of course I saved the old tone pot!)

As long as the new pots' value is the same, it should sound IDENTICAL.

Pots are neutral if the value is the same.
