Replaced wires?

Recently bought this bass, it’s a 1982 fender jb62 reissue from the fujigen era. I see many basses from this year with cloth wiring instead of plastic. Mine was specifically 9-29-82 and I found one also with the same date and it had cloth as opposed to my plastic wiring. It was sold to me as an all original, but this has me slightly skeptical now. Any insight appreciated

I wouldn‘t worry about it. From what I can see, your electronics look clean, not tampered with as opposed to the other bass.

Wouldn’t sweat it too much. Leo even used what parts were on hand. Maybe the cloth wire or the plastic wire ran out and they used what they had or it was a change over to plastic or cloth.

As far as I know apparently the vintage reissues were supposed to have cloth, not sure how true this is, but most the ones I see on the internet from this year have cloth. Not to mention the one from the exact same day as mine is full cloth vs mine being full plastic wiring. It’s not that big of a deal, but I got curious and wanted to find out if it was truly a 100% original just for my own peace or mind lol

And to really get that true vintage vibe, you could replace the sterile-sounding plastic Romex wiring in your house with vintage knob & tube wiring! Yeah!
