Replacement 15" speakers?

hmm, bruce's power handling ratings are real world and not just thermal. maybe you should use the deltas instead of the betas. i figured you could get 400 out of the betas in that cab but i guess not. must be the smaller cab volume.

i probably wouldn't use them together but i'd darn sure use it.

Totally false. The Deltalite II 2515 and the Delta 15 are about as different as two drivers can be and don't sound at all alike.

In a small vented cab the Beta 15 is displacement limited to about 150 watts each, the Delta 15 to 100 watts each, the Deltalite II 2515 to 250 watts each.

dang, the beta has almost twice the xmax. that sucks since i have the deltas. not complaining about the tone, but didn't think the beta would handle more power in those b-15 cabs. oh well, i think i'm going to swap them for jbl's anyway. heritage b-15 gave me speaker envy ;)

The Deltas are perfectly OK if you're not pushing more than 100 watts into them, and they have a bit smoother midbass than the Betas, so they have their place depending on the application. Most drivers do. But you can't just pick a driver based on watts anymore than you can based on size.

thx bill. i can't think of one time i actually put more than that into them so i'm golden. well, there was that one time i wanted to see how far i could get with a 300w amp without the speaker rebelling. got pretty darn far, too. wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis but it did pretty well.

Am I wrong to think the Deltalites would be at least decent in the OP's cab if not pretty darn good?

The 3015 is a big hit in old and new TL606 old school designs.

Wouldn't a pair of 2515's or 3015's be more forgiving if not perhaps even a good match? Both have excellent Xmax.

I had a 10" Basslite in an old Ampeg combo and these speakers are fine in old gear and won't kill the old school vibe at all.

The SVT4 Pro has more than enough wattage to explode a pair of betas or deltas even with just one side. 500w @ 4 ohms is enough to justify deltalites in my opinion, at least. Kappalites would be safer and not much more expensive.

That said: Betas will likely get a giant upper bass peak that will feel like boomy nasty lows in that box, so it's probably a good way to go...the Kappalites / Deltalites tend to be less nasty in the upper bass.

Caveat: I haven't modeled the cab at all, just going on my recollection of the way betas perform in smallish boxes.
