Replacement Bridge for Peavey Millenium?

Hey I am wanting to customize one of my first basses which is a peavey millennium 5 BXP (cheap I know:hmm: but I love it for sentiemtal reasons. That being said I wanna start with a new bridge. Any suggestions?

oh and a side note I am pretty new to this whole bass underworld so go easy on me when explaining stuff:smug::bassist:

A hipshot type A bridge like on the USA Millenniums might be the way to go but, I gotta ask, why? Why mess with a perfectly good bass and possibly booger it up? For the amount of money you'd spend on a new bridge, pickups, preamp, hardware, you could buy a used USA Millennium that's already put together and ready to go with no need of upgrades. And you'd still have your perfectly good import Millennium as a backup. Just my opinion btw.

My girlfriend bought me the bass last year for christmas not knowing (me not knowing either) what quality of bass it was. With a year of experience under my belt and a new MTD Kingston Heir 5er on the way I was gonna start modding this bass because she wont let me sell it. . .imagine that :p
She wants me to keep it forever because she bought it for me so I figured I would make it into a project guitar:bassist:

Sounds like a great gift! I'm sure it's a fine bass! Why are you looking to replace the bridge? What's wrong with the one on there? From what I've seen in pictures online that bass already has a very good bridge.

If you're looking to change the tone of the bass and are looking forward to fiddling with it and learning the ins and outs of how these things work, you'd get a lot more 'bang for your buck' from a pickup or EQ swap.

I also have an import millennium 5 which i defretted, before realizing how bad the bridge adjustment sucks. I couldnt get low action when it had frets! :spit:

The problem with it is the string-thru holes are right behind the saddles, and the screw holes are all at the back (where the string ends would be if it were top-loaded), whereas the hipshot A bridges (and most other replacement bridges!) appear to be the opposite (the screw holes are where the string-thru holes are). I love the feel of this bass but its a total ***** to find any upgradeable parts that fit!!!

I did a lot of searching online and I couldn't find anything that could work without a lot of modification. :(

And thanks for the offer for the chrome hipshot but I'm goin all black too because it has that tiger eye finish and it looks killer with all black hardware

Me too! I have the 4 string version in Tiger Eye. Other than putting Hipshot ultralite tuners on, and Fender vintage jazz bass knobs, it's stock. I thought about a pickup swap-but it sounds really nice the way it is, so I'm not gonna change it.

I put a set of Fender flatwounds on it, because IME it seems better suited to that sound. When I want that flatwound sound (which is very often these days)that bass just kills IMHO. A couple of pro musicians felt the same way hearing it-they couldn't believe it was only 200 dollars off the rack.
It's also very lightweight, and easy to play. I love mine!

at the bottom of each post is a 'quote' button that you click and it opens a new post screen with that text quoted like in this one

Also I wasn't sure about the single-saddle hipshot bridges because it had a limit of how far thru-body they could go (since thats how theyre held on) and it didn't seem like it would fit, I would have tried anyway but the cost seemed kinda prohibitive for a bass this cheap...

If you're dead set on replacing the bridge, this Gotoh 201-5b from WD MIGHT work => Invalid Link Removed.

I got the 4-string version a while back. In addition to being a Gotoh 201b model,
the ones from WD have the baseplates drilled for string-thru applications.

You can't see the string-thru holes in the pix on the WD site. I've attached a
close-up of the 4-string version mounted on one of my Yammers. And yes,
I've since given the bridge a good cleaning to get rid of all the dust & rust :p.

it looks IDENTICAL to the stock bridge, maybe thats what they use insted of the hipshot? they are imports...

I just dislike how elevated the plate is off the face of the bass (base seems thicker than normal), all my barrels are bottomed out and i still cant get low enough action. time to break out some files.... -sigh-

Or maybe all you need to do is shim the neck. Does the BXP Millenium have a "neck tilt" option? If so, try it. If not, try adjusting the neck tilt through shims.
