Replacement Hartke speaker recommendations?

Here's where I am right now:

Nothing from Hartke in the way of a replacement driver yet; I assume it will show up next week.
However, by the time Larry replied on here, I had purchased an Eminence Basslite S2012 speaker. It showed up last week, and I put it into the Kickback 12 temporarily. However, after playing through it, I can honestly say it sounds much better (brighter, punchier, warmer) than the original Hartke aluminum-cone speaker.
I'm going to do a side-by-side evaluation when the Hartke driver shows up, and put the best of the two speakers into the amp. I'll let you know which one sounds better overall, and where to get it. Or, if you want to buy the "loser" of my Pepsi challenge, I'll give it to you at a very reasonable price.

I'm happy to say that Worldeeeter was quite the gentleman and offered me the speaker outright at no charge for my similarly failing Kickback 12. He did not need intimidation and turned down my repeated offers to pay him more. That's what I call an electric player doing a 'stand-up' routine!! :)

+10000000 for Larry Hartke here.

When I had some "issues" about getting another 4.5XL to pair with my existing one, Larry went well out of his way to ensure it got to me with as little stress as possible, including personally intervening to make sure I received it. That's why I'm going to continue to play only through my Hartke cabs until they die naturally.

And then I'm going to buy more.

And I'm sure it will! There was zero intimidation, merely a hope is all and as we see a well founded one at that. You too get a "way to go" Worldeeeter, you did as I would like to think all of our brothers would do. :)

What a pleasure speaking with you, Larry. Thank you for your time and consideration. I'm sure that this problem is not great and I'll have a solution soon. It's great to understand the details of the product better and be able to make sensible choices regarding its maintenance.

Now, who wants a pair of Bergantino cabinets that get no play time? :cool:

FYI to all those Hartke guys out there:

Hartke has changed their dimensions on the Kickback amps at some point in the last 14 years; the speakers are no longer 12" in diameter, but rather 12 1/4". The new drivers will not fit in an "old" Kickback 12.
Also, they changed the electrical connectors. They're still the metal leads that slide onto the posts on the driver, but whereas they both used to be the same size, one is now large and the other small. My "old" Kickback 12 had 2 large connectors, and the new driver was not compatible.
The good news is that the Eminence Basslite S2012 that I bought sounded GREAT in the Kickback, and there were no issues with dimensions or connections. I installed the replacement speaker and sold the amp for a nice price on CL the day after I posted it. Now, an up-and-coming bassist (about 14 years old) has a great amp to play through, and I was able to help Arranger with his Kickback dilemma. Plus, I bought a brand new Mesa Boogie Carbine M6 2x12" combo that rocks my world, so I consider this a win-win-win!
Thanks to Larry H. and everyone else who helped out with this.

Been playing Hartke bass amps and cabs since 2001, i have bought 2 hartke 4x10 cabs a 1x15 cab and a ha3500 and a ha2500 head....have never had a problem till now, my new rig was being played on volume level 1 while recording and 3 speakers started to make noise and they r blown now aluminum makes a horrible sound when blown, ive only been playing this rig in practice for 6 months......My question is can i get replacement speakers anywhere, Hartke support said almost 200 each.....at that price i might as well switch to ampeg so i can replace them with eminence.....what to do!

Where are You located?

In Europe, at least Thomann.com sells the 8Ohm TP10 and XL10 drivers.
The availability varies from time to time though, so better to check.
Both have been ~80€ or so.

It's possible to change all the drivers though, and if You choose Eminence, a recommendation of the porting as well as the suggested enclosure size can be found on their enclosure plans .pdf's so modeling isn't absolutely necessary.

If You want to use some other drivers, WinISD for example will be a decent -not to mention free- modeling software to figure out the porting.
