Double Bass Replacement nut for Ampeg Baby Bass

Hi all, the nut on my original 60s Ampeg baby Bass just sheared and fell apart (the fault line being where the G string sits). Bit specialist but does anyone know of a company/person that supplies replacement nuts for Ampeg Baby Basses? I guess I could always try a local luthier or KK Baby Bass (who are near me, just outside of London) to make something similar .... but it would be easier if there is someone who makes replacements to the original pattern.

easy fix. try you local cello/bass shop. would have to be custom fit to your bass.

I guess so, its just a pain having to drive to the luthier I trust (90 minute round trip) and leave the bass for a week. Was hoping someone makes to a template and posts out of laziness on my part! As it happens I have made a botched short-term repair with superglue, although I am not sure I trust it to hold

The original nuts were cast from epoxy. Over the years, they get brittle and will easily snap and shatter. I make the replacements from ebony.

Thanks Bruce. So far the superglue fix is holding although I am really not sure I trust it. Think I will keep going as-is until it does break again (if it does ...) and then take to my nearest luther for an ebony replacement.
