I got the Seymour Duncan QP 5 and the difference is significant. If anyone is hesitant because of some negative reviews here on TB earlier all I can say, don't be. That must have been regarding a much earlier line of the QP5s.
They sure beefed up my tone and one obvious advantage besides the higher output (if that's an advantage) is that I got much more even response across the strings and a nice, 'vintagy' midbump that helps fingerplaying and overall dynamic response. Now the B & E string also speaks as clearly as the rest of the strings. The only con I could mention may be that the sound is not mellow smooth if that's what you're after. They have a nice raw, woody character, that I personally like, and if you close the tone control 75% you get more of an old school traditional P-bass sound. Recommended!
