replacement pups for a Modulus Q4

I have two questions, actually. The first is whether changing the pickups in my Q4 will make a greater change in sound than changing the preamp. The second is what some good replacement pickups will be to make it sound more full (like the thick sound of a stingray), but less harsh in the treble range. Does that make sense?

FWIW:

Not familiar with the particular Bass but most onboard pre's are essentially transparent which means they don't color the sound - just shape it which basically amounts to boost/cut bands of what the pups put out.

The primary place to color sound in the bass itself is pickups. Strings also a consideration as well as cap values in passive harnesses.

See FAQ the Bass Mod link in the first paragraph of Dimento's Trouble Shooting Guide for how I select pups.
