ive got an esp bass with two emg pick ups. one of the knobs got smashed in and now it cuts off so i have to replace it. its a double stack 250k. at least thats what i can gather on the net. can i get a new one and put it in myself? does it have to be a 250k or can it be 500k? its monday morning and i have to have this done by tomo night to go on tour. uh..

Are you sure it's a 250K?
Unless you have passive EMGs, you will want to use 25K pots, as active pickups have a lower output impedance than passive pickups.

ok so that narrows it down. anyone got any tips on where to find this said pot? cant find it anywhere. guitar center. sam ash. local music store. NOTHING. where can i try? also whats up with putting this in myself. is it a matter of soldering wires?
So the pickups are indeed active?
You would be lucky to find anything at Guitar Center or Sam Ash.
Either pot is a very common item online though.

Yes, that's the point.
Switching between 250K and 25K pots will render the bass unusable, as you will either get no output, or no control over your volume, depending on which value was needed.
You definitely want the same value that was in there to begin with.
