Rescued another stray (NAD)

How could I not save it? It was sitting outside, all alone at a yard sale. Owner told stories of having to wiggle the input to get 'er singing. Also had wonkiness with one of the selector pots.

I drug it home, cleaned it up and it doesn't look half bad:

Plus, its got built in effects to really annoy the neighbors!

It's a BA-210SP. Turns out there were some cold/cracked solder joints on the input jack and selector pot. Cleaned and resoldered them and she is up an running! Sounds really good. Better than the BA-115 I rescued last month, the 'SVT' effect helps. Also, pretty dang loud.

Biggest downside is there is no connection for an extension speaker. I could just run the xlr out to a power amp & cab. I could also see about adding a jack that would put the ext. In series. We'll see, in the meantime it's plenty loud for what I need and not bad, for $40.

Looks good!

FYI: Recently found out that if you use auto tire shine (the thick, goopy stuff) on the vinyl covering, it gets into all the tiny peaks and valleys filled with tiny dirt and turns them all black. Really made my Sunn amps/cabs look like new. I have pics somewhere...

I applied it with a nylon scrub brush, rubbing it on (and in) a little bit firmly then wiped it off with a clean towel. Had to wipe it a few times. Used an old tooth brush to get in some tight corners. I let it set 24 hours and then wiped it down again just to be sure it was dry.

I was thinking about trying that, the tolex on these is very bumpy

Nice score! I paid around twice that for mine, but it came with the footswitch (which is all I really wanted anyway.) Mine also had cold solder joints at the input due to a missing nut on that socket, and at the balanced out, both easily fixed. I found the effects to be pretty hard to love, but the SVT setting was useful.
