RESOLVED! BOSS SY-300 not useful as a multi effect? - kills input tone

So maybe I'm missing something, but I just got a Boss SY-300 and, yes, the synth sounds are cool, but the tone of the bass passing through the pedal is absolute garbage.
Let me explain - part of the selling point/ reason i got this pedal was to save space on my pedal board - the routing matrix gives you 4 spots of multi-effects to use as you need. OK GREAT!
BUT HOLD ON
in order to pass your tone through the matrix you must set one of the three OSC to "input." The tone of the bass is DRASTICALLY different when the osc is set to input, but there doesn't seem to be any reason why? So instead of a nice clean tone going through your multi effects you get this bizarre honky mess. Very nasally, as though lower high mids have just been jacked up very high. it's a harsh sound.
Seems like they only want you to turn the pedal on if you plan on using the synth tones, which, yeah it's called a guitar synthesizer so, FAIR, but still, does anyone know why your tone get's so garbled when you aren't using any synth parameters? Again maybe I'm missing something in the menus that fixes this issue

Effects can be placed after the send/return loop, which will give you a more standard bypass signal. If you got creative with your cabling you might have an option there. I realize it may not be ideal.

I'm not having this issue on my SY-300 - I use the "input OSC" a lot without tone issues.

I wonder if you maybe edited another patch to create your current one and there's still some LFO stuff going on? I had this happen once when I tried to edit a patch to create my own, there were still settings on that patch I wasn't aware of and I had to edit it a lot in order to get it sounding correct again. Maybe start there?

so I figured it out
yes, if you set the OSC to input it gives you a weirdly EQ'd honk tone, no way around that.
HOWEVER, if you go to the Send/Return spot in the routing matrix and click on it you are taken to a send/return editor. One of the options here is "Direct input", which is as it sounds.
So I jacked up the volume on the direct input and then placed all of my multi FX after the send/return, with all three OSC on there own separate signal path. Everything meets up again the the outs. This gave me a clear, uninterrupted signal that passes through the SY-300 without any problems and leaves the synth available to be layered on top. You could also set it up such that the CTL can silence the direct bass and trigger the OSCs at the same time if need be. Pretty cool!
Now when I turn the pedal on I experience no tone variation at all and can set the CTL pedals to trigger on any multi FX I like without using the OSC at all. I can also have a separate CTL to trigger on any or all of the three OSC as I choose, or have them on and let the CTL or EXP control variables... and so forth.
but alright! it's an easy if someone confusing fix. Just don't set you OSC to input. I believe this probably has something to do with the tonal shaping boss is using to generate the wave forms affecting the signal as it passes through.
Still not sure I'm going to keep it though, I may just sell it and go the OC-2 with filters and fuzz route

and just to be clear you'll want to move the send/return onto it's own signal path or this won't work
