Double Bass Restoring a wound NOS gut.

I have an Artone E string that I'd like to try out.
With unwound gut I'd rehydrate with oil. With this string being wound, would I still treat with oil?
The ends look pretty dry.

So hit the ends with oil, but leave the wound part alone.

Cool. I had a full NOS set strung up for about 6 months before the A broke. Over 18 months later and with some care, the G and D are still singing along beautifully.
I also have a used set that was rewound. But they were given to me by a dear friend, and his stop was shorter than my basses so the winding pulls over the nut and doesn't really suit my bass.

Artone package ,,Old LaBella string,,green and black thread,,still a great string,, do not oil,,just play it,,if the humidity gets low the wrap may get loose,,oil will do nothing for wound or any other guts as far as I have found

Superman is right. Artones have blue and gold silks.
