I also ordered tickets for my wife and I for the United Palace Show (NYC).
I have never been to this location and more over never even heard of it. From their web site it looks like a really great venue but from what I've heard from those that I know who are familiar with Harlem or Washington Heights this isn't the greatest neighborhood.
Any thoughts? Is the subway a bad idea for two suburbanites?

Yes, they're going to be at the Freihoffer Jazz Festival at Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer!
You'll be fine. The United Palace & the nearest subway stations are right on Broadway, a well-lit, well-travelled commercial street. Most of the punks & rabble-rousers congregate on the side streets...if at all. I wouldn't necessarily want to live in the 170's, but I ride my bike through that neighborhood 3 or 4 times a week and never run into trouble.
They are coming this summer to Ruth Eckerd Hall right 15 minutes from my house! I can't wait... And I'm gettin tickets for sure!
I'm going the first nite in Austin at the Paramount, 6th row center.
When I heard they were touring I dreamed that they would play the Paramount since I saw them there waaay back.

I saw the Romantic Warrior tour in LA, and all I can say is awesome. Stevie Wonder came out to give Stanley an award, something about Playboy Jazz player of the year, I think. Then they all jammed to Superstition, if I recall correctly. I wasn't into the jazz scene very much yet, except for RTF, Miles, Billy Cobham, which would explain my going to see Weather Report and Balcone's Fault (Shake a Leg) with my girlfriend, and I didn't know who Jaco was! Great seats, but we had to leave early, because she got bored with Metheny's endless noodling.
What a dope I am.

does anyone know where you get a presale password for the tour from? Or is it just for people buying the packages?
I didn't see Ruth Eckerd on the list on TM. Ended up buying ticket for HOB in Orlando August 1st.
Just as well, cos HOB is Gen Adm. Can fight my way to the front of the stage instead of being stuck at the back of REH. Although I've enjoyed many good shows there as well.

Just got home from the show and it was everything you would expect, a totally mind blowing experience! Opening nite jitters and a few rough spots but when they were on it was powerful, I would almost like to catch them later in the tour when things will be even tighter.
Stanley and Lenny are ultra tight together and are a blast to watch.
Note for the gear heads Stanley played a brown Alembic bass all nite except for the acoustic set thru SWR speaker cabs and a pair of tiny Fender geetar amps.

Typical they would do one date in England and I'll not be able to get there! Let me know how good it is!
Saw the Friday night Austin show. All the players seemed to be having a ton of fun, chops for days from everybody. It was truly a dream com true to see one of my favorite bands of all time.
Just got back from the Houston show. In a word: unbelievable. They were totally on and got pretty sideways a few times, a real show where they went to the edge and back several times. Stanley played a good 10 minute upright solo, with everything from arco to slap to flamenco to etc. What a monster. In a group of monsters. Best show I've seen in years.
I too witnessed the Houston show last Saturday night. They were fantastic, one of the best shows I've ever seen!

I want to go to the London Event but I've never been to the indig02 venue... does anyone know where its good to sit to see the band as well as hear them. Is the Kings Row section the best, so called VIP, so I guess it must be?
