Return to the CS-3?

You're not crazy in my book.

I've got a CS-2 along with four (and counting) other compressors. And I'm in no hurry to get rid of it. For some basses and types of music, I prefer it over my more modern and $$$ compressors.

That's the beauty of compressors. Like ODs, they each have their own flavor and vibe. So why restrict yourself to one when you can have an alternate unit - or a small carefully curated selection?

Some people buy the fun effects. I prefer to shop for compressors, filters/EQs, and preamps.

To each their own. Especially since so few of us are independently wealthy.

So I traded my CS-3 away back when I got the MXR M87. Now that it's been 6 months or so, I think I miss the coloring the CS-3 did to my tone. Now I'm thinking about bringing it back or maybe the CS-2. Am I crazy? I think I have a case of the Compressor Blues.

Not at all. I'm actually about to swap out my afterneath for a zoom ms60b. THAT feels crazy to me haha but I want a more traditional reverb. So it goes. And comps are even more tone colored so I totally get what you're doing and why.

I returned to the CS-3 after Keeley, Diamond, MXR, EBS, Wampler and more, so you're not crazy. I know it doesn't get a lot of love around here, but it's still my favorite next to my current FEA Opti-Fet. I was actually reluctant to sell the one I had laying around after I got the Opti-Fet because it became pretty much integral to my tone through the years. One of the reasons I like the Opti-Fet so much is that I can dial it in to perform pretty much just like how I set my my CS-3's, but it just sounds more articulate live. People might think me nuts for saying that, but whatever. One thing I do know is that if I ever sell my Opti, I'm going right back to the CS3 and staying there.

I used the CS-2 for a long time. I liked it a lot more than the cs-3. I liked the cs-2 with a lot of basses but just don't care to use compressor with my current main bass.

Got my old CS-3 back, so all is well again. My Pedal Power 2 Plus doesn't like it though. Running a power cable from the power supply to the pedal it will only run like it's on a drained battery. Changed it with other pedals and same thing. So I daisy chained it off the Pitchblack and it runs fine. I found that a little strange.

Edit: Read the Pedal Power manual, duh, and it states that Boss pedals requiring a ACA power supply like the CS-3 need to flip the Pedal Power dip switch to "ON" for that connection. Problem solved. Pays to read the manual.
