Returning my bass

OK,...Assuming that the battery is new & the pickup heighth is set properly; It's an active bass. Don't turn everything all the way up like on a passive bass. Turn the master volume all the way up, on the active EQ, find the detent (knotch) in the middle. That's flat. From there, you can boost/ cut/ whatever. On your amp, if it has a little button or switch that says -12db or -15db, push it IN. Pad it down. Most active basses have a bit hotter output than that of a passive bass. There probably isn't a thing wrong with the bass. It just sounds like a minor misunderstanding of gain structure. Check out your amp & cabs too. Be sure your speakers aren't blown.

thanks for all the replys guys, yes I changed the battery still did it, the pickups where at the right height I had everything set up when I got it, I dunno it just did not sound good at louder volumes the active switch was on on all amps or it was plugged into a active input. The highs where good but the low notes sounded distorted it wasnt a good tone.

Anyways I got a passive fender jazz bas and I love the nice warm tone. Its black and had a black pickguard put on it is a beauty!!!

do not get me wrong though ibanez are awsome basses to ive had two ibanez before these basses and they where very good to me I just did not liek this one, and for the money I thought fender was a better go. Btw next bass is a sr505.

I have a MIA Jazz and a SR505 and they sound nothing alike. The Ibanez will not have the warm lows you are used to from the Jazz. Two completely different sounds.
