Returning to bass

Hi everyone,

I have been a lurker on the site without signing up for a couple of years when I was shopping for a bass. I have played guitar for 46 years. I also play banjitar, mandolin, and bass. I played a lot of bass back in high school when I was in the jazz band. I have used bass in my home recording studio from time to time, but I didn’t own a bass for a long time. The first bass I ever owned was a 1975 Olympic White Fender fretless P-bass, which I bought new back in the day. I kick myself for selling it many years ago.

My favorite bassists cover a variety of styles. I am a fan of Eberhard Weber and Misoslav Vitous in the jazz world. In rock, I have always loved the prog bassists like Michael Rutherford, Chris Squire, John Camp, and Geddy Lee. Even when I was primarily a guitarist, it was always the bassist that made me love a particular band. I like playing pretty much anything, but I love improvisational music. I especially like jam bands like String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, and of course, the Grateful Dead.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll include a picture of my basses below.
