So... 1975 decided I wanted a bass... went to a local music store and bought this Univox Hi Flyer... loved it, played it for about a year and decided it was time to upgrade.. Bought a brand new 75 P bass... went to my friends Firehouse studio with both basses, he liked the Univox so I left it with him in case anyone wanted to play it... totally forgot I left it there... years ago I called him and asked about it.. "I dont know WHAT happened to that thing"... ok no worries... fast forward to 2 weeks ago... I'm discussing short scale basses with a buddy on FB and post a pic of a similar Hi Flyer... ANOTHER friend chimes in with a pic...Hey man did it look like this? ... WHAAAAT??...did you get that from Dennis?.. yeah he left it here after a jam about 25 years ago... me: "I'm comin over, I'll bet its mine but theres a way I can tell"... I put a good side ding down to the wood on the side next to the tone knob.... get to my buds house pick it up and bam... there's the ding.... looking for this thing for over 40 years and another friend had it the entire time... now... off to my guitar guy to get it cleaned up, set up and playin real good again.... welcome back Shorty....lol...

Never thought I'd see my very first bass again...
Super fantastic!!! This really makes me smile! 40 years... maybe there's hope that I'll someday find my fretless, stripped, '78 Musicmaster that was stolen in '85!!

That's a pretty fine looking Mosrite copy...and being a white example makes it a +1 in my eyes.
Seeing how the originals were built here in Bakersfield, they are very popular around here with alot of collectors. Even a nice Japanese copy like that would generate alot of interest!

Those were 'da bomb' in the early 70s... Univox had lots of awesome models that for 'just a little more money' were orders of magnitude better than the readily-affordable Teiscos (etc). On my 'paper-route' budget the Fender, Gibson, Gretsch were simply unobtainium...

Very nice, thanks for sharing! My first bandmate sold his Silvertone amp in the late 60's to get a Princeton. He found the Silvertone 40 years later at a music store and bought it back. It still had the black nagahide on it that he covered it with when he first got it with paper route $$$!
