I just installed these on my Sadowsky MetroExpress 4. Low end is meaty with excellent low mid character and a nice glossy high end. Not as much "in your face" as the hex core I tried.

Already a month in on using Roundcores and I find it hard to take them off to try other GHS strings. Roundcores are just that satisfying to my ears while playing, still plays as new fresh out of the pack (while I do follow the method of cleaning them after I play). I'll give it two more months and see where it goes but I am a strong believer in these strings!

How would you compare the these to the ernie ball super slinkys?
I'm looking for a string with less tension for my thunderbird. The EB's work great on all of my other basses. But on the T bird, they feel really tight.

I have never liked Slinkys enough to actually buy a set to try. On friends basses, they never impressed me. Super Slinkys are an awfully light set.
I like Round Core Bass Boomers a lot, and just ordered a new medium set fresh from the GHS factory. They're using the balanced construction techniques for manufacture. I'm pretty excited to play; hear, and feel the new sets. It will be a good while before I write a follow up review as I just put a new light set of Balanced Nickels on my Fender American Standard Jazz.
I have no personal experience with the Super Slinkys (45-65-80-100), but I would imagine they're fairly similar to the D'Addario EXL170 (45-65-80-100) in terms of overall playing feel (stiffness/flexibility), both being hex core.
The RC Boomers 45-65-80-100 would be slightly more supple-feeling, although they're not loose and floppy like some round-core counterparts from other manufacturers.
I finally replaced the set of Pressurewounds I had on my Jazz bass with a set of 45-105 Round Core Boomers that's been sitting in my drawer for probably like 6 months.
It's been a while since I used a set of regular Boomers on that particular bass, so I can't really offer up any comparison insights. But at first blush last night they felt and sounded great. Bright enough without being harsh, and nice balanced tone throughout the spectrum. Can't wait to see how they sound after they've broken in a bit. I'm thinking I would probably really like these on my P bass as well, but that one is still running with Precision Flats for now.
I have a gig on Thursday and I'm planning on using the Jazz for that, so I'll report back later.

I'm having an existential crisis. I've been practicing with the jazz with new RCB strings all week, and it sounds great! But I really want to play my P bass with Precision Flats.

I put a set of these on my custom made Jazz bass. While I really like how they sound I find them to be VERY stiff. I'm using the 45-105 set. When I take them off I'll probably just go back to my 45-105 DR Fatbeams. They just feel more pliable to me.

I've been trying all kinds of strings on an Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird in search of that magic sound similar to my '64 T-Bird. I finally put some RC Boomers on that I have laying around and got to use them in a live setting today. Bingo! The RCBs gave me BIG, full-bodied lows, solid low-mids, nice mid punch (not honk or boxy sound) and just the right amount of brightness (which is not a lot for me--not clank zone).
I've tried these on several basses with varying degrees of success. But today it was the sound I wanted out of this bass. It needed some lows and low mids and these were the ticket. As I was playing I kept noticing just how sweet the sound was coming from my cab! Made my day to find the right string--and not have to buy something else to try. I'm glad I have another set in the drawer!

I'll be posting right here in this review thread. I'll do my best to do a kind of compare and contrast between the originals and the new. I've been suffering with Bronchitis and haven't done anything. Strings still in pack. Stay tuned. More to come.
