rewiring my p bass

hey guys, I have a dilema, I need to replace the volume pot because it's gone bad, on my made in korea squier p bass from 1996. I found wiring schematics on fenfer.com and it's currently wired as american vintage '62 p bass, so I was wondering, should I wire it by that schematics or by standard p bass schematics, do anyone know the difference?

You can use any diagram you want. Depends on what your purpose is. If you liked the way the bass sounded, restore it to original.

There are tons and tons of diagrams online at various sites. But as I mentioned earlier, if you like the sound, it's easy to restore it to original.

Like other players said-all kinds of schematics are out there. Make sure you use better components than 1996. Shop around for quality jacks (Switchcraft), pots (Bourns, CTS or DiMarzio) and try shielded wire (Stew Mac).

You have an excuse for rebuilding it better than before...

With one volume pot and one tone pot, there are four possible ways to wire up, but only one is desirable. Though there are a bunch of different diagrams out there, which show different ways to physically wire up (Usually different grounding schemes or different ways of wiring in the capacitor.), if you draw them in schematic form, they are almost all identical. I'd be willing to bet that there is no difference between the way your bass is wired, and what is shown in any other P bass diagram. Regardless, there is no reason to change anything if you are just replacing a pot.

well, I will change and improve as much as I can, it will probably be the first wiring since 1996, and, now that you mention it, diagrams are pretty much the same... thanks! I was not sure so I wanted to check if there is something to watch about...
