RH 450 again

I curently own a Ampeg SVT3 Pro,i like it but i recently discovered the RH450.

It's impossible for me to try one right now because there's no dealer where i live as far as i know(Montreal Canada).

My problem is that i have to sell the SVT3 before buying the RH450 because i'm not richThat's why i'm asking to those who know both amps well if it would be a great move?

I would run the RH450 in the same cab as my SVT did (SVT410 HLF) wich i like a lot.

1: Will i get more headroom or less(my SVT is sometimes on the edge)

2: Tone shaping......will it get better

3: The features on the RH,are they realy good(comp,presets,tube tone etc)

4: Is the RH transparent,color my bass tone like my SVT is or it will let my Stingray tone shine threw(i hope)

5: And again THE HEADROOM,I just can't loose some of it,would even need just a bit more than the SVT if that is.

Thanks in advance,i just couldn't make the switch without your advise.

I have the RH450. I have also done a good bit of playing through an SVT3 Pro. I have not directly compared them side-by-side, but I can answer some of your questions:

1) RH450 will have much more power and headroom than the SVT3 Pro, which is pretty weak for it's power rating IMHO. It does sound really good though.

2) This is questionable as it's a matter of personal opinion. The RH450's EQ is very powerful, but if you are used to the SVT3's bass boost, graphic EQ and other things, then perhaps it'll be an adjustment for you.

3) The "bonus" features on the RH450 are executed beautifully. The Compressor, Tubetone, presets integrated tuner perform amazingly well.

4)The RH450 is a bit colored, and can approach that Ampeg tone, but by default it's not quite as dark and hairy sounding as the SVT3 Pro. It is able to do clean and punchy very well, so I think the answer here is yes.

5) Again, no worries. The SVT3 Pro is very weak. This come ups all the time here at Talkbass. Someone will show up here soon and say the SVT3 is not weak. Perhaps it isn't for them, but for what Ampeg has rated the head, the output is very low. Pretty much ever single head I've owned that had a similar power spec had much more output than the SVT3 Pro. The RH450 will kill the SVT3 in terms of output. You will not lose power. No worries.

I'd think there would have to be someone there that has one you could try. Maybe drive into Toronto, or cross over to Boston.

That's the kind of answer i was hoping for and i just found out this morning that we have a TC Electronic dealer here in Montreal(Steve's Music Store).I'll be there tomorow morning,Good to know for the headroom,because it would be impossible for me to check that in a store with another cab than mine.

The Rh will definitely give you more volume, and great flexibility.
