Ric Owners - I need your help quick!!

I am going to meet a person with a Ric bass that I am buying that was advertised this afternoon on Craigslist. This is the link for the bass. I am NOT a Ric guy. What do I look for to know if this bass is a real Ric of fake?

The seller tells me that the issue with the bass is that someone tried to install some other pickups and the holes are still there but the seller has replaced with original PU's.

I don't mean to be rude by please respond with meaningful responses. I am leaving to go there in 30 mins.

It's ether the best deal of your life, a fake, or they are going to mug you for the cash. I'd bring a gun or two and a friend with a gun or two

Even a good Ric knock off like a Geko would be worth that price though. The good MIJ knock offs are not to bad

It looks legit ... but it is a bad photo. The pickups are seymour duncan Rick replacement pickups. Those pickups are tone suckers. The pickguard has also been changed.

Didn't someone on here get a gibson RD artist bass for like...$180? It could be a little old lady.

Is there any serial number thing that I should look at?

You will want to spend $300 to put a Ric pickguard and Rick pickups back in. Also The wiring may need to be restored as well.

Check for neck cracks around the nut

If you have a smart phone, you can go on rick's website and check the serial number on the input jack, but it's not a sure thing since those can be replaced/forged. I'm not too sure what to look for on a 4003 though aside from that, sorry :S

Also, I hate to say but I agree that that price makes no sense... good thing there's two of you, watch out! If all goes well though you may have found quite the incredibly amazing deal!

Double trussrods would be a biggie. Most all of the fakes I've seen only have a single one.
