Here's the deal:

I will be attending a funeral in Richmond on Monday which includes a 30 minute drive up 301 (towards Hanover CH) for an additional graveside service. I don't mean to sound callous but I'd like to blow-off the procession and visit one or more of the better music stores in the area. Any suggestions? I'll have ~2 hours to kill (sorry) before reconvening with family members at a private residence in Mechanicsville.

Thanks for the consideration. In lieu of music stores, strip clubs will do in a pinch.

Thank you for recognizing the genius-at-work. I'm the youngest of this generation at 68...the balance is 70-80...and, quite frankly, I don't do well with being dragged all over the countryside. It's fatiguing plus I have a 3 hour drive back to my home town. Also traveling solo so no alcohol.

There are no good music stores here anymore unfortunately. Richmond Music Center was the best by far for years but tragically the second owner drove it into the ground some time ago. If you're looking for entertaining distractions and/or fancy foods head over to the Innsbrook area on the west side. that's where all the money-people hang to amuse themselves.

Yep...know the place. My Richmond office sat in front of the old Circuit City hdqtrs (Maryland / Gaskin).

Follow-up...

Got to see the whole family...I'm pretty much the youngest of this generation at 68 so you have to take advantage of the opportunity. Service was at Bliley's on Augusta, just off of 195, and, boy, do people like to talk. I blew-off the procession up 301 (police-accompanied) and headed back to Va. Beach (3 hrs). I will head back up when calmer days prevail.
