I guessed track B as the Ric. Definitely not positive though.
Hard to gauge given the tracks are not level-matched, and with all that overdrive going on.

Aw c'mon. We all know it's talkbass wisdom that these 2 tracks sound identical because there's no way to sound different in any way if the same person is playing them. We all know they are identical because "they sound like you." You're welcome. [/sarcasm]

Agree. I was listening for the woody sound of the longhorn in the lows, and that twang in the highs.
i have both also and find that i can get similar tones. But if i am wrong… i need a rematch with a clean tone.
I’ve given up on this. So many people just love to purposely manipulate the true meaning of the phrase that there’s no use in even trying anymore.
I'm not sure I have the right meaning but honestly to me, it means that you have a signature in your playing that comes through regardless of instrument but that each instrument can give a slightly different flavor that adds some different nuance to that signature. That I can truly agree with.
However there are some that say you sound identical on all instruments which I can't agree with.
EDIT: As a voice actor as well, you can copy someone else's signature vocal style but it will rarely be perfect so, similarly a truly good player can cop the signature style of other players within reason.
Once there’s distorsión involved (or any other effect) there’s really not much to listen to.

Neither of those sound like any of the longhorns I've ever had but I don't use distortion.

I can hear the different tones but the distortion makes it kinda hard. I’m going clip one is the 4001 and clip two is the Longhorn?
I've never knowingly heard a Longhorn, so that doesn't help me with making a wild guess.C'mon Jeff...get off the fence...
I picked B. I have never heard or played a Longhorn. I have owned a 4001 and it was never bassy like the A recording.
Did anyone look in the box? Is the cat dead?
