Check out the cool custom made Combat guitars Ricky copy from that bassplayer from the Brittish band Feeder.

With that headstock shape and nameplate inset, I'm surprised that the RickenWaffen didn't wet their pants rushing to their lawyer's office...

That's a Japanese bass with (I think) the brand name of "Killer". I can't find the link I had, but I do remember they had at least two versions of that particuler model.

Nice! This POS i've bought is pretty hideous, methinks the whole thing will get refinished either natural or some evil color, the pickup routings filled in and some Jazz p/ups installed kinda like yours.

I'm just a little pi$$ed that it didn't come with a full complement of pickups, just extra $$ that has to be spent to get it "roadworthy"...although I tend to be a slack bugger at times so most likely by the time I get around to working on it i'm not interested in it!

Check out the lurvly cack red sprayed over everything, including the bridge and the binding. Not sure if the gold was original or not, at any rate it's a sight to behold!

finally got some new pics of the Rickenfaker I modded. It's a '76 Ibanez, which I purchased in sorry shape... I've since gutted, put real Ric pickups, electronics, and knobs into it, and cleaned it up real nice.

I keep hearing stuff about Rickenbacker 4001s made only for flatwounds, but didn't Cliff play with roundwounds? Is that why he switched to Aria?

I have a relatively easy question, is $350 too much for an Ibanez Rick copy? The bass is in great condition.

The reason I'm interested is because I know I don't want a Rick sound on very many songs. However, if I can get a cheap copy that is close enough, then it might be worth me playing it on a few songs. Thanks.

There used to be a company out of Japan called Mann,that used to come into Canada they made a copy of everything, Before I got my real Rick,I had a black Mann copy and it was really nice,It actually had a nicer neck than most of the 4003s I've played lately and it sounded good

I own that very Killer Bass. It's not set-neck, it's a bolt-on it just runs deep into the body, like a Spector I suppose. It sounds fantastic, but it's certainly all jazz bass. Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard.

That was also my first bass. A black Mann copy, as I couldn't afford a real Rick back in the 70's as a teenager. I traded a few years later for a true 4001, but the Mann served it's purpose.
