Yes, it is. Although, I never considered the pickup locations extreme given my first Rick bass was my old 4005WB; to me it was perfectly natural. There's that perfect word again (as opposed to Word Perfect - remember that?).

You're right....my mistake. Not sure how I arrived at 4005...

That photo doesn't read very well so you mostly see just the pickguard, which has made other besides you think it was a 4005.

I guess he didn't like it, since he never used it later. Probably more that the sound wasn't right for Zeppelin.

Another possibility is that LZ borrowed gear for that tour, hence JPJ using that bass for the tour.

The 4005 is a fully hollowbody bass.
