Rickenbacker Laredo 8 string Mod question...

Hi All,

I'm thinking about acquiring a Rickenbacker Laredo specifically to modify to an 8 string bass. I have a schaller 8 string bridge and wonder if the neck width of the Laredo is wide enough as well as the pickups. The schaller's E-G spacing is 2 5/8" (see photo). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Rickenbacker pickups are designed for a 2 1/8" string spacing. The older 4004 basses have a wide enough neck. The newer ones probably not. Get a pre 2008 4004 and modify or replace the bridge pickup and it will work.

The strings will be close to the edge of the neck even on an older 4004.
