Rickenbacker mono jack has no sound

Im having some issues with 4001 bass, the mono input jack has no sound when I plug it into an amp it will just hum like crazy, plugging into a tuner just gives me random notes too. Stereo jack seems to work fine. I checked the wiring too, everything seems okay.

Is there a diagram somewhere I can look at to rewire it so it's mono only, I have a spare mono jack lying around. Searching the web gave me nothing, most were questions about ROS setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention, when ever I touch the bass, the hum would get louder while im plugged into mono jack. Switched to Treble and middle position and there is sound, but kind of faint. Bass position has no sound. I have ground wire soldered on the treble tone lug to the screw thats connected to the Hipshot bridge.

Was messing around and putting my finger on the jack plate made the hum go away and made the mono output work like normal. Just an observation.

sounds like you solved the problem, lost the ground connection somehow

I've had it for a few years now but it worked when I first bought it. Its a 75 4001 in jetglo just sitting in its case, but I recently refretted it. So something must've came loose or got knocked around. Gonna try and solder ground to the jack instead of the pot, see if that works.

The Ric-o-sound harness fails easily, but it can also be fixed easily.

By the way ... all of my Ricks are mono

When you look at the Ric-O-Sound schematic posted above, you will see the fingers that engage when a plug is inserted into the mono jack. These fingers sum the signals that are coming off the side terminals of the Ric-O-Sound jack. They can become misaligned or corroded. A pencil eraser gently applied to remove the corrosion, and, if necessary, a pair of mini needle-nosed pliers to adjust the fingers to make sure they engage when a cord is inserted into the mono jack is the remedy.

On the '76 4001 I used to own before I got my 4002 (yes, "2," not "1" or "3"), I had to adjust them a time or two.

Bump, so the issue has been fixed, but now issues seems to be with the neck pickup. While in middle position, there seems to be a lack of bass when the neck volume is on full and more bass when the volume gets rolled off. This is odd because it sounds way too trebly for being having both pickups on full. Hope it isnt a busted neck pickup, that would suck.
