Rickenbacker neck width

From what I've read, the neck of a 4003 post-2006 Ric is a bit narrower than older Rics. The new neck, according to the Ric homepage is 42.9 mm (1 11/16'') at nut.

What's the width at nut on a pre-2006?

And is the whole neck narrower, or just at nut?
For those of you that have played them both, opinions on the new neck vs. the older?

The neck on my 1978 Rickenbacker is 40.1 mm at the nut. Although it is a replica it was made to the same specifications to what they were that year. And as for the whole neck it is 56.7 mm at the 12th fret. I'm not sure what the post-2006 would be at the 12th fret, but based on what you said I'd say that the pre-2006 basses have slightly narrower necks.

A 4003 post-2006 (todays model) is 54.0 mm (2 1/8'') at 12th fret.

As far as I know 4001 necks (like yours, M(?)) are slimmer because they had a somewhat different truss rod system compared to the subsequent 4003 model. In mid 2006, Ric redesigned the truss rod system once more and went back to the slimmer neck profile of their discontinued 4001 model. Not sure about this..

Yeah they made the neck slimmer on the 2nd half of 2006 4003 models. My Rick4003 has this along with the 4001/4003 push/pull pot.

Not sure about how wide it is though, don't have a ruler :/
