I was out browsing today, and came across an old Rickenbacker TR 100 bass amp with a Ricky 215 cabinet apparently of the same vintage. It was $375. What's the deal on these things?

Why would you want to know about a 2x15 cab?

  3. Is that one of the cockeyed paralellogram Rick amps? If so- cool!

Munj, There is some history in a book "AMPS! the other half of rock 'n' roll" by Richie Fliegler. ISBN 0-7935-2411-3. Good gear porn..

$375 for the head & cab is a good deal. Those are pretty rare from what I understand. When I do see them around Seattle, they want alot for them. Kinda wacky looking, if I remember correctly. I'd buy it, but I love that type of stuff. I used to own a hell of alot more gear than I do now (I got out of it for a couple years). I'm slowly building up a collection again though...

In 1981 this amp and cabinet listed for $758.00

I have the original Rickenbacker catalog and price sheets showing and listing Rickenbackers entire amp line-up for 1981. It also lists the specs of each amp and cabinet if you're interested.

Here's a photo of the TR-100BH and SB215 cabinet from the brochure.

The head is rated for output 100 watts @ 4 ohms and the cabinet impedence is 4 ohms.

The only thing I'd do with that amp is give it to Gallagher
to use for his stage show instead of a watermelon. Pure junk.

Yeah, not the older one that I was thinking of; those are cool. Maybe if you picked it up somewhere for like $100 it would be cool for practice or something. I've never played through one of those (that's pictured). Anybody out there ever played on one? Don't lie, we can tell if you're lying! (LOL) ;)

You're thinking of the 60's Rickenbacker Transonic 100 and 200 Amps. Here's a refresher, enjoy!
