I have been searching the past 2-3 weeks for a new rig, doing research and throwing around some ideas. I have used a amp and then cab setup in the past, however then I came across a couple combos that got me wondering. I have been looking and found a SWR Goliath Senior 610 cab, works and looks great for about $420, however I do not have a amp and no clue yet as to which I would get. I really amp starting from the ground up rig wise. Then I came across two combos, Trace Elliot GP7SM 300 410 combo (red stripe) and/or the Trace Elliot GP1240 410 combo.
I have heard a lot of good stuff about older Trace stuff, plus it made me think that I could get both the cab and amp around the same price for just the SWR and also save some money not having to buy a decent amp for the SWR cab. I have heard great things about the Goliath Sr as well. And I get these are 410's and the SWR is a 610 and not knowing what amp to get yada yada. However load in and out would be easier in my mind because I just wheel in the one combo and being a 410 it should be good enough for most small to medium sized gigs and it also can have another 410 paired with it.
Just generally asking anyone have experience with either of the Trace combos? Anything good or bad to say? And also any influence on to either choose one of the combos or go to separate amp and cab route?
