It is so sad to see him pass, but it reminds me of what Joe Zawinul said about Jaco. Don’t be sad that we have lost him, be happy that he ever was.

This will always be my favorite pic of Anthony: Pick between the teeth, absolutely tearing it up on the 'career girl'.

Tributes have been pouring in from some of the world's finest musicians, and rightly so - AJ was a musical giant. Me, I'm a musical nobody, but he was, is, and will always be my favorite bass player. I'm deeply saddened by his death but remain forever grateful I had the privilege of beholding his sheer musical genius and complete and utter mastery of the bass guitar.

Wow, I just got around to reading that, great read and explains a lot. A little different than the usual testimonial but honest. Khan should write a book! I'm so glad I grew up around NYC in the 70's and got so see these giants when they walked the earth.

Thank you for posting this. Read the whole thing, quite transparent. Have and been listening to the Crossings album for years. Almost impossible the get through and hear how many layers of musicality is in that album. Will have to listen again in the next days ahead.

Massive inspiration and nothing but respect for AJ. Even for a dumb dumb metalhead like me, he was such a boss with his tone, note choices, precision and feel. He was one of the cats who made electric bass a truly serious instrument. RIP chief.

Don’t worry, there is only one album credited to Anthony Jackson and someone else wrote the music for him. He knew he was a gold standard sideman and he stuck to that.

I'm not down on swag, but usually the people behind instantly dropping funeral swag have no clue who the people they are promoting are. If AJ's family is getting their share fine, but I suspect not. I hope I'm wrong.
