While not a bassist Davey Jones and the Monkees inspired many a bassist in the late 60's and early 70's including yours truly. With Joe Osborn playing on many of their hits it was easy to see and hear why!

I have a neighbor who is/was a friend of Davy Jones for over twenty years. He too was a singer, though not nearly as famous, and Davy asked him to get up and sing at his last wedding. I haven't seen my neighbor today but I imagine he's pretty shaken.

I saw Davy perform at our son's college a few years ago. He had a great backup band and put on a very entertaining show. He was in his fifties at the time.
