RIP "Grumpy" Jenkins

One of the giants in the "brand new" Pro Stock class which became popular when I was growing up. By virtue of his consistently high placing in the NHRA points races, he was a steady presence at both Englishtown and Atco

The various Camaros were pretty cool but relatively ordinary as Pro Stockers went. The Vega OTOH was a very innovative car, and positively BadAzz

That one car started a wave of smallblock Vega conversions in my neck of the woods. There was a time, during my High School days (mid 70's), that there were no less than four V8 Vegas running around the streets of my hometown - including one panel/wagon that was regularly seen pulling the front wheels just as high (and occasionally higher, since it had no wheelie bars :eek:) as the one shown in the pic above

RIP Grumpy. Hope they packed a few cigars in the casket for ya
