Oh my, this is sad news for me. I 100% link Mr. Jones to the movie Field of Dreams. That speech he gave to Ray made me cry the first time I heard it, and almost does so still to this day.

If somehow, God Almighty actually spoke to me, and he didn't sound exactly like James Earl Jones, I'd KNOW I was being played.

He was so wonderfully avuncular, it was always all the more threatening, and dangerous when he appeared as a villain.
He'll be hugely missed, but thankfully some of the roles he's associated with are so absolutely iconic, that he won't be forgotten.

Not too many voices that the first sound of a sentence you knew who it was. He was one. Very special man.
Excellent! I recall a sportscaster mistakenly announcing his death back in '98 when James Earl Ray passed away.

As Thulsa Doom he was one of the greatest villains in movie history. He even got ripped for that role, and the long straight hair made him even more villainous. And what can you say about the voice of Darth Vader? RIP Mr. Jones.
I had the pleasure of hearing him speak to a fairly small group while I was in college. He struck me as a genuinely humble and kind man. Also very, very intelligent. Nonetheless, tonight I’ll honor his memory with this silly mashup:
CNN paid him $1 million to say "This is CNN" and they got a bargain. RIP Mr Jones.
Definitely one of the greatest entertainment icons of all time. I will personally always remember him as the voice of Darth Vader because that's what I grew up knowing him as but he was so so so much more than that throughout his entire expansive career. Truly a huge loss today that makes me very sad to hear he has passed but also knowing that he had a great life and career on this planet while he was alive.
A great voice, but more importantly a great actor all around. One of the first movies I *saw* him in was Matewan, I thought it was cool that this huge star was in a little indie movie from John Sayles.
