My buddy and I saw The Muffs open for Cheap Trick at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano many moon ago. I'd say around '94 or so. It was brutal the way the Cheap Trick crowd treated The Muffs. It ended with Kim calling the crowd a bunch of hillbillies and walking off the stage. My buddy and I liked what we heard and became fans. We used to catch The Muffs when we could around LA and met the band a few times.

My buddy texted me yesterday and told me Kim had passed. That was a bummer. I found my old copy of Blonder and Blonder and played a few tunes I hadn't heard in years. It really brought me back to some fond memories and good times.

Crowds down there are always uptight. It’s almost all old warhorse acts(and tribute bands), and all the people want to hear is those hits from 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago.
